Kirkland is Open!

The health and safety of our residents and visitors is the highest priority of the City of Kirkland. As of March 2021, Kirkland is in Phase 3 of Governor Jay Inslee’s regional “Healthy Washington - Roadmap to Recovery” phased plan for economic recovery. City Hall and most City buildings remain closed to the public as part of our response to COVID-19, but not for long! We are excited to announce that our Parks department is looking forward to reopening our community centers in June to support the rollout of our COVID-19-compliant parks and recreational summer programming. Facial coverings are required in Kirkland parks and in our community centers, and we ask that all those enjoying our parks comply with Washington state's reopening guidelines.

For more information on our Parks and how to enjoy our parks safely, please visit our Play it Safe webpage.

Kirkland businesses are open, having implemented new health and safety procedures and protocols meant to ensure the wellness of their employees and guests. We ask that our visitors please follow COVID-19 safety recommendations as guided by Public Health - Seattle & King County while supporting our businesses and enjoying our gorgeous parks and public spaces.

In response to the ongoing restrictions on in-person customer experiences, the City had to find innovative ways to safely support our unique and vibrant community of small businesses, restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries and more. These efforts are going strong as we continue to support the digital transformation of our business community. One of our most front-facing remedies to help curb the economic crisis is our digital main street, known as Shop Local Kirkland, which enables users to safely browse Kirkland businesses and shop from the comfort of their living rooms. Once Shop Local Kirkland was launched, we rolled out In-Car Dining, which allows guests to park in Marina Park - one of our most beautiful doorways to Lake Washington - and order delicious food from one of our nearby restaurants. Several participating restaurants will deliver right to your car door!

If you're not yet ready for in-person dining, In-Car Dining is the perfect solution.

We are adapting daily with new ideas, creativity and good humor to ensure the health and safety of our residents and visitors. Whether for a day, a weekend, or longer, we welcome visitors in compliance with the Healthy Washington - Roadmap to Recovery plan. Kirkland remains a magical place! We are a dynamic city, alive with the arts, at home with our enterprising heritage, and in love with our unique lifestyle. When the time is right for you, come and unwind, come and experience, come and stay. Until such time, stay healthy, stay safe and we’ll see you soon in Kirkland.
